About us

Environmental Conservation Community of Tanzania (ECCT) is a Non-government organization that empowers communities with knowledge and skills to conserve environment through identifying and capitalizing opportunities from environmental conservation activities value chain as incentive for local community to raise their voices and concerns for fighting against different environmental pollution and finally make a better social, cultural and economic choices that will not degrade our environment.

ECCT is a relatively new grassroots NGO, however, its vibrant performance, and significant contribution to environmental management prompted the former Minister of State, Union, and Environment Vice President Office, Hon. Musa Azzan Zungu to declare ECCT an Environmental Ambassador of Tanzania. Besides, ECCT has been awarded two certificates of appreciation by JICA Tanzania for its outstanding performance and by Kinondoni municipal council for its contribution to the community. Since its establishment, ECCT has influenced many Tanzanians to take an active role in protecting, cleaning,greening, managing, and conserving our environment. Specifically, we have organized and facilitated several tree planting activities, beach, and street clean-up events, school outreach programs and sanitation and hygiene projects in and outside the Dar Es Salaam region.

ECCT believes in the power of collective action to create lasting change. ECCT works in collaboration with a number of communities and fellow CBOs, NGOs, Government and Private Sectors. It is through community leadership that we can understand local needs and sticking points, draw on local stories, and sustainable objectives in order to build an effective coalition that can work toward Cleaner, greener, healthier environment and thriving communities together.
